Zero Carbon Industry in Antwerp: ALLICE takes part!

On 25|01|2024 Published on 25|01|2024
Zero Carbon Industry: An event to understand the challenges of industrial decarbonisation on a European scale
Organised by the ECEEE (European Council for an Energy Efficient Economy), Zero Carbon Industry will be held on 30 and 31 January in Antwerp, Belgium.

The event is being held against a backdrop in which the EU has raised its ambitions for reducing emissions from industry, with the "Green Deal" plan. This plan is accompanied by the European Commission's Net Zero Industry Act and Critical Raw Materials Act. They join the "Fit for 55" package and REPowerEU to address current concerns about energy cost and security.

Zero Carbon Industry will present plenary sessions of the highest technical quality, focusing on 3 major themes:

  •  Processes and technologies to meet future challenges
  • Energy management and corporate culture
  • Drivers for change
Over 70 presentations are expected in total.

ALLICE will be speaking on the decarbonisation of cooking and drying processes

Léo Pasquier
Project coordinator engineer at ALLICE

Our project coordinator engineer Léo Pasquier will be presenting some of the findings of the ALLICE study "Decarbonisation of cooking and drying processes". This study focuses on the decarbonisation of these two processes, for which different types of solution are being studied: energy efficiency, electrification, and renewable and recovered energies.

The applications studied are the drying and firing of roof tiles, the drying and polymerisation of a powder paint line, and the kilning of barley malt.

The study shows that all these solutions offer significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. To go further in reducing GHG emissions linked to certain processes or in certain specific cases, CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage) solutions may prove necessary.
